FAQs

What do I need to listen to SkateFM?
We recomend you use Internet Explorer (tested with versions 6 and 7) as your browser to open the player and have Windows Media Player (tested with versions 7 through 11) installed on your computer. Active-X and PopUps must be allowed by Internet Explorer. A working sound card and speakers would help, too.

There is also now a WMP plug-in for FireFox. Click Here.

Is SkateFM legal?
SkateFM pays the appropriate royalty fees to ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC as a member of LoudCity. It is NOT legal for you to record anything from SkateFM.

Is it okay for my kids to listen to SkateFM?
Although not obligated to follow the obscenity rules impossed upon terrestrial radio stations, SkateFM endevors to keep the music heard here "PG" rated.

There are some exceptions:
• Live broadcasts from roller rinks are often of sessions geared towards adults.
• There are some songs in our play-list that we have removed from regular rotation, but may appear during our "Hump Day" show or by request.

If you notice any problems with any songs, e-mail us (form above) with the artist and/or title.

Can I download the mixes and music I hear on SkateFM?
We pay royalties that allow us to stream the music on SkateFM. PodCasts/Downloads are a whole other can of legal worms that we have no plans of openning. Outside of our broadcast, it is also our policy that our DJs do not "share" (peer-to-peer or otherwise) any of the music in our playlist, so don't bother asking. With a little searching, most of the music here on SkateFM can be found at Amazon.com or Beatport.com.
